Hi, I am Warwick.
Growing up in Cairns, Australia my parents owned charter sports
fishing vessels and I was fortunate to spend my youth on the islands and reef,
fishing, snorkelling and exploring what this amazing part of the world has to offer.
I inherited a love for travel and the ocean, which eventually led me to a career at
sea. I commenced my maritime carer in 1996 working and driving commercial fishing
vessels, charter vessels and also running a parasail and jet ski company.
Whilst on a backpacking adventure abroad in 2005 I seized the opportunity to join a
motor yacht in Jacksonville, Florida, as a dayworker.
It was here that I was first exposed to the yachting industry and where my maritime
career took a different heading.
During my 12 year yachting carer I worked on sail, motor and charter yachts, on
vessels ranging from 38m to 145m. As well as holding my Australian commercial
Master and Engineering tickets, I hold my Chief Mate 3000gt and my STCW II/1
I am married with two young children and made the decision to go land based in
2019. I commenced working at the International Maritime College in Cairns where I
coordinate and instruct STCW courses and Advanced Fire training.
In with my work I meet a number of individuals aspiring to join the yachting industry
as well as Captains and senior crew conducting refresher training. I have chosen to
join the YOA team to help those adventurous crew enter the amazing world of
yachting and existing crew to find their dream job.
Having worked in the yachting industry I know the requirements and expectations of
both Owners, Captains and Heads of Department when it comes to having the right
crew members on board and I aim to place only the most suitable candidates.
